מַרְזֵחַ
מַרְזֵחַm. (b. h.; זחח or זוח, with ר inserted) merry-making, banquet, also the banquet given to mourners to cheer them up. Lev. R. s. 5, v. מַרְזוֹחַ.M. Kat. 28b, v. מַר II.Pl. מַרְזֵחִים, מַרְזֵחִין, מַרְזֵי׳. Sifré Num. 131 חזרו לעשות להם מ׳ they (the Moabites) again arranged (idolatrous) banquets for them. Koh. R. to VII, 1, end חכל סופדין … עישה לו מ׳ all people lament and clap hands over the death of the righteous man (Samuel), and this wicked man (Nabal) holds banquets; Yalk. Sam. 134; Midr. Sam. ch. 23. Esth. R. to I, 2; ib. to I, 9; a. e.
